Come mid-March, it will be time to bid goodbye to our VP, Mr Singh. He has been in Anderson Pri for 2 years and has conributed significantly to the school within a short period of time.
For this week's journal, I would like you to pay a tribute to Mr Singh. You can reflect on his contributions to the school or share any personal encounters with him.
Do join me in wishing him all the best in his future endeavours. :)

An enLIGHTening experience!
Today we went to the Science Centre for a Science Lab lesson on 'Light'. We had the company of Mrs Lam, a parent volunteer, and Miss Hernani who had spared the time to follow us on the trip. Our sincere thanks to both of them!
The lesson was planned as an extension to the concept of light energy that we have recently covered in class. Mr Andrew carried out a few demonstrations and you carried out 5 activities in pairs. Many of you 'ooohed' and 'wowwed' during the demonstrations. I'm sure it was a very enriching and enriching experience for all of you. I certainly enjoyed myself, especially when Mr Andrew brought out the plasma ball!
As a post-activity reflection, write about:
* 3 properties/ideas that you learnt about light
* 2 things you would share with your classmates who were not there
* 1 idea that you find interesting
P/S:
Perhaps you can start saving up to get your own plasma ball 'cos we may be making another trip to the science centre. ;)

What makes a HERO?
We commemorated Total Defence Day yesterday. The day started with a temperature-taking exercise, followed by a fire-evacuation drill. Most of you took part in both exercises seriously. That is a good indication of your readiness to face emergencies. Well done!
After recess, we watched a skit on Bukit Chandu, the story of Lieutenant Adnan, who led a 42-strong platoon from the Malay Regiment in the defense of Singapore against the Japanese invaders. The soldiers fought at the Battle of Pasir Panjang, at Pasir Panjang Ridge in the Bukit Chandu (Opium Hill) area on February 12-14, 1942.
Because of his actions at Bukit Chandu, Lieutenant Adnan is considered by Malaysians and Singaporeans today as a hero. Here are some questions for you to reflect on:
(1) What qualities did Lieutenant possess which makes him a hero?
(2) Who is your hero? Why is he/she your hero?
(3) What have you learnt from the Total Defence Day activities?

My goals in 2008
By now, all of you would have a rough idea of what to expect for the the year. This is a big year for all of you. PSLE year. I'm sure that is the word that some of you don't want to hear, right? Don' worry, ya. We will be on this journey together. I'll be helping you in every step of the way. I just need you to get on board and work together as a team. Together we shall excel!
For your first reflection, I would like to hear about your plans for the year. Some of the questions that you could reflect on are:
(1) What are my expectations/goals for the year?
(2) What can I do to achieve them?
(3) What have I done right last year that contributed to my success?
(4) What have I not done last year but will do this year?
Remember, a reflective learner is a progressive learner. So be honest in your reflections. There is no right or wrong answer. I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you! :)

Welcome to P6.8 blog!
Dear pupils,
Last year had been a fruitful and memorable year together. In 2008, you can expect many new initiatives coming your way.
To begin with, we have our own class blog where all events or happenings will be showcased. You will also be doing your journal reflections here. You will be able to interact with your classmates, download & upload your class work and check out the latest class updates here! That's not all! You can also share what you have done with your friends and family anytime and anywhere. Isn't that great? :)
For those who still prefer the conventional way of writing journal, don't fret! You can still drop me a note in my mailbox in class, email me at rahimah_abdullah@moe.edu.sg or rah_abd@yahoo.com or even sms me anytime. I enjoyed reading some of your journals last year and got to know you much better through them. I am certainly looking forward to getting to know you more this year.
So here's to another great and meaningful year ahead! :))
